As a learning assistant, you will support a missionary family by teaching or accompanying their child(ren) in school lessons. This allows both parents to concentrate fully on their tasks of Bible translation, church planting, etc. You will experience first-hand how church planting happens and what challenges a missionary family has to live with.

You will use your manual skills to support missionaries in various projects. Perhaps you have a trade that you can use locally and possibly train other people in. You will also experience what church planting can look like in different places.

With your experience in the field of information technology, you can support missionaries so that they can concentrate on their actual tasks without struggling in areas that are beyond their knowledge. You will be able to use your skills and talents and perhaps even train other people. Along the way, you will experience what church planting can look like in different places.

What requirements do I need to meet?

PROFESSIONAL

  • Knowledge and experience appropriate to the requirements of the upcoming task
  • Participation in a preparatory course
  • Good knowledge of English

PERSONAL

  • Minimum age 18 years
  • Personal belief in salvation through Jesus Christ
  • Agreement with the beliefs of Ethnos360
  • Desire to be part of a team that seeks to bring the Gospel to unreached people groups with the gospel
  • Good character with positive references
  • Member of a local Christian church
  • Supportive of the church leadership
  • Good physical, emotional and mental health
  • Willingness to trust God for financial and material needs trust God
  • Service period: 6 months to 4 years
    (We recommend that teachers serve for at least two years)
Where in the world does Ethnos360 need support staff?

We are currently working in various countries in Latin America, South America, in West Africa, Europe, Asia and on some Pacific islands.

Islands: From isolated jungles to hectic cities, from hot lowlands to cool hot lowlands to cool mountain slopes, from wet rainforests to parched to parched areas. Opportunities for supportive employees exist in almost all areas and regions.

Are equipment, supplies and materials available for my work on the mission field?

Yes, everything you need is generally available on site.

How much financial security do I need?

The costs incurred vary greatly from country to country and are also also depend on the place of assignment. However, you should reckon with approx. 500 - 1,000€ per month for a single person (England: approx. 350€). The flights are not included.

Where will I live?

Accommodation is generally provided on site. The costs for
rent are borne by each participant.

Is it necessary to learn a foreign language?

English as a foreign language is a prerequisite. If another language is spoken in the respective field, it would be helpful to learn this language a little. The requirements vary from case to case. English is taught at the schools for employees' children.

Is it possible to work part-time?

As this is a full-time course, it is not possible to work part-time.

Is it necessary to complete a preparation course in advance?

One week of preparation before departure is mandatory. In addition an orientation in the respective country of assignment.

When should I leave the country?

It is advisable to arrive in the country of assignment one to two weeks before the start of the assignment.

What other opportunities do I have to get involved?

Depending on the location, there are various opportunities to get involved in other areas of service. We encourage to visit remote ethnic groups during the assignment, to experience first-hand the work among the unreached. It is also desirable, as far as possible, to join a local  church and get involved there.

What educational opportunities are there for my children?

Many children of employees attend boarding schools or use them as day schools if they live nearby. Other families teach their children at home via distance learning.
