This year, four people from the Yetfa translation team and I have been working on the translation of Luke 22:24-46. When we got to verse 44, we started thinking about why Jesus was tortured so much.

I said, "It wasn't just because he knew he was going to suffer physically on the cross, but also because he was about to bear the sin of all people."
The conversation then developed in depth. They replied: "That's true! He not only bore our sins, but the sin of all - from all over the world, from Africa, from America, from China, from Australia, from all over the world. And not just for the people of today! He bore the sin of all people from all times! The sin of everyone!"
For a few minutes, they simply followed this thought and processed it again and again. And they kept repeating: "The sin of everyone."
And then it happened...

A holy hush fell on the room. For about 10 minutes, these 4 men sat in silence.... weeping. A couple of them pulled up their shirts and covered their faces and just cried.
I sat in front of them in complete awe and started crying too. I wasn't sure how or if we were going to continue, but after a long pause, they pulled their shirts down and wiped their eyes. One of the guys said, "Okay, let's keep translating so other people can understand."

Please pray with us for the missionaries and their language helpers as they work together to translate God's Word. Also that God's Spirit will guide them and that the message will be carried out.
